Beating the Odds: Colten Ellis

In the high-stakes world of professional hockey, success is often measured in goals scored, assists made, or saves recorded. One such player is Colten Ellis, a promising goaltender for the St. Louis Blues, whose path to the NHL has been shaped by perseverance and an unwavering determination to overcome the obstacles his professional career has thrown his way. Dr. McFadden and Colten worked together during the 2021-2022 season, with a large area of focus being on maintaining a positive and winning mentality. Colten spent the 2022-2023 season in the ECHL, before earning a regular spot with the Blues AHL affiliate Springfield during the 2023-2024 season. Fast forward to the 2024-2025 season where Ellis has solidified his spot as Springfield's starting goalie with a 10-5-2 record, 2.68 GAA and .920 save percentage.

Perhaps the most significant aspect of Colten Ellis’s journey is the mental toughness and mentality that he developed along the way. Hockey, like all professional sports, is as much a mental game as it is a physical one.
